New Delhi: Audi has officially unveiled the fifth-generation A6 allroad, a more rugged and off-road-focused version of the A6 Avant estate. The new model introduces a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrain for the first time in the allroad lineup, alongside improved design, increased width and enhanced capability.
The new A6 allroad PHEV combines a 2-litre turbo-petrol engine with an electric motor, delivering a combined output of 367hp and 500Nm of torque. It uses a 25.9kWh battery pack (20.7kWh usable), offering an electric-only range of up to 95km under WLTP conditions.
The model can accelerate from 0 to 100kph in 5.5 seconds and reaches a top speed of 250kph. Audi claims the battery can be fully charged in around 2.5 hours using an 11kW AC charger.
A 3-litre V6 diesel mild-hybrid variant is also available, producing 299hp and 580Nm, with a slightly quicker 0-100kph time of 5.4 seconds.
Compared to the A6 Avant, the allroad features a wider body by 111mm and increased track width for better stability. Ground clearance has been raised by 34mm and can be further adjusted by 15mm through adaptive air suspension.
The suspension system allows the vehicle to lower itself at high speeds or raise itself in off-road mode. Audi also adds all-wheel drive as standard, improving traction across different terrains.
The A6 allroad benefits from rear-wheel steering of up to 5 degrees, reducing the turning circle and improving manoeuvrability. Depending on the powertrain, the model can tow up to 2,000kg in PHEV form and 2,500kg with the diesel variant.
The exterior features a redesigned grille, rugged bumpers, skid plates, roof rails and wider tyres, giving it a more aggressive appearance. LED lighting remains standard across the range.
Inside, the cabin features a 14.5-inch central touchscreen, an 11.9-inch digital instrument cluster, and an optional 10.9-inch passenger display. Comfort features include massage seats, ventilated seating, a panoramic glass roof and four-zone climate control.
Boot capacity stands at 466 litres for the diesel version and 404 litres for the PHEV. The new A6 allroad will compete globally with models like the Volvo V90 Cross Country, Mercedes E-Class All-Terrain and Skoda Superb Scout.
