Bengaluru Becomes Tesla’s New EV Hub as Model Y L Debuts in India
New Delhi: Electric vehicle giant Tesla has strengthened its presence in India with the launch of a new experience centre in Whitefield, Bengaluru. Starting May 14, 2026, customers can explore the Tesla Model Y lineup, including the newly introduced Model Y L, a six-seat electric SUV aimed at family buyers.
The company selected Bengaluru, often referred to as India’s technology capital, as a strategic location for expanding its electric mobility footprint. Along with showcasing its vehicles, Tesla has also introduced after-sales support services in Whitefield to improve customer convenience and ownership experience in the city.
The move comes as interest in premium electric vehicles continues to grow across India, especially in metro cities where charging infrastructure and EV adoption are increasing steadily.
Tesla says the new Model Y L has been developed as a family-focused electric SUV with a three-row seating layout and enhanced cabin comfort. The vehicle offers increased headroom, legroom and interior flexibility for passengers across all rows.
The SUV delivers a claimed WLTP-certified driving range of up to 681 km and can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 5 seconds. It also offers up to 2,539 litres of cargo capacity, making it suitable for long-distance travel and daily utility needs.
Both the Model Y Long Range and Model Y L use the same 83 kWh battery pack and support charging speeds of up to 250 kW. Despite being larger and equipped with an all-wheel-drive system, the Model Y L delivers 20 km more range than the standard Long Range variant.
Tesla also claims the Model Y L can add up to 288 km of range in 15 minutes using Supercharger technology, compared to 267 km in the standard version.
The standard Tesla Model Y is priced at Rs 59.89 lakh (ex-showroom), while the Long Range version costs Rs 67.89 lakh. The newly launched Model Y L is priced at Rs 61.99 lakh (ex-showroom)
