New Delhi: Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. reported a strong sales performance in October, with total volumes rising 25% year-on-year to 2.76 lakh units, supported by healthy domestic demand and a sharp increase in overseas shipments.

According to the company's sales data, exports climbed 59% to 49,872 units during the month, highlighting the growing contribution of international markets to the automaker's overall volumes. Domestic sales also maintained positive momentum, increasing 19.3% year-on-year to approximately 2.26 lakh units.

Passenger Vehicle Sales Maintain Growth Momentum

Passenger vehicle sales rose 18% year-on-year to 1.01 lakh units in October, reflecting sustained demand across Maruti Suzuki's product portfolio.

The performance indicates continued consumer interest in the company's passenger vehicle offerings, even as competition intensifies in India's automobile market.

Utility Vehicles Emerge as a Key Growth Driver

Utility vehicles remained among the strongest-performing segments, with sales increasing 26% year-on-year to 97,787 units.

The segment's growth reflects the changing preferences of Indian car buyers, with SUVs and other utility vehicles gaining popularity. Automakers are increasingly focusing on expanding their SUV portfolios to capitalise on this demand shift.

Light Commercial Vehicle Sales See Modest Growth

In the light commercial vehicle segment, Maruti Suzuki recorded sales of 4,405 units, marking a 1% increase compared with the corresponding month last year.

While growth remained relatively limited in this category, the company's overall performance benefited from stronger passenger vehicle demand and higher exports.

Exports Strengthen Overall Sales Performance

The 59% increase in exports was a major contributor to Maruti Suzuki's October performance. The company continues to strengthen its presence in international markets while focusing on expanding its domestic product portfolio.

Going forward, sustained demand for utility vehicles and growth in overseas markets are expected to remain important factors supporting the company's sales performance amid rising competition in India's passenger vehicle industry.
