Ferrari Luce Debuts in Rome (Img: Internet)
New Delhi, October 2023: Italian luxury carmaker Ferrari has announced its first fully electric production model, the Ferrari Luce EV, in a major milestone in the company’s history. The Ferrari First Electric Supercar reveals the marque’s bold entry into the high-performance EV segment, unveiled in Rome, but remains true to its signature passion for driving emotion and engineering excellence.
The Ferrari Luce Launch is based on a dedicated electric architecture, and the company has said the new car is not a traditional evolution of existing models but a totally new creation. The car is designed by the creative group LoveFrom, led by Sir Jony Ive and Marc Newson. The car is a sleek fastback grand tourer with four doors, and rear-hinged rear doors.
The exterior features a smooth glasshouse design, sculpted aluminium bodywork and advanced aerodynamic elements. Ferrari has also equipped the Luce with its largest wheels to date, measuring 23 inches at the front and 24 inches at the rear.
Inside, the Ferrari Luce EV features a five-seat layout, which is made possible by the flat EV platform. The cabin adopts a minimalist design philosophy, mixing digital innovation with physical controls. The interface is dominated by a 10-inch adjustable central touchscreen and a 12.5-inch OLED driver display, although traditional Ferrari design elements such as the iconic Manettino dial remain.
Inside, premium materials such as recycled aluminium, leather and high-end glass finishes dominate the interior. The model also features a 21-speaker audio system and improved practicality with a 597-litre boot space.
Ferrari EV Supercar boasts a quad-motor all-wheel-drive system with 1050hp and 990Nm of torque. The car can sprint from 0-100kmph in just 2.5 seconds and offers a Ferrari Luce Top Speed of over 310kmph.
Based on an 800V platform, the EV sports a 122kWh battery pack that provides a driving range of more than 530km and supports ultra-fast charging of up to 350kW. Ferrari says sophisticated torque vectoring and active suspension systems allow the car to steer sharply despite its 2260kg weight.
The Ferrari First EV is not meant to replace combustion-powered models but to complement the Ferrari lineup moving forward, the company says. The Ferrari Luce EV represents a significant stride in Ferrari’s evolving vision for next-generation mobility and driving engagement, bringing together electric innovation, futuristic technology and iconic performance heritage.
