New Delhi: Kia is ready to expand its presence in India’s premium SUV segment with the launch of the much-awaited Kia Sorento on September 4, 2026. Positioned above the popular Seltos in Kia’s lineup, the three-row SUV will mark a major milestone for the brand as it becomes Kia India’s first hybrid SUV.
The Sorento will bring Kia’s latest global SUV design language, advanced technology and premium features to Indian buyers. It is expected to compete with popular models like the Toyota Fortuner, Skoda Kodiaq, Volkswagen Tayron, MG Majestor and Jeep Meridian.
The biggest highlight of the upcoming SUV will be its hybrid powertrain. The India-spec Kia Sorento is expected to come with a 1.6-litre turbo-petrol strong hybrid engine producing around 238 hp of power and 380 Nm of torque. Select variants are likely to get an all-wheel-drive (AWD) system.
Kia will also offer a 2.2-litre diesel engine generating approximately 202 hp and 441 Nm of torque. Both engine options will come paired with automatic transmissions, while higher variants could feature dedicated terrain modes.

Inside, the Kia Sorento is expected to offer a luxurious cabin with six and seven-seat configurations. The SUV will feature a modern curved panoramic display with twin 12.3-inch screens, a rotary gear selector, touch-based climate controls, panoramic sunroof, wireless charging, ambient lighting and premium upholstery.
For comfort, buyers can expect features like ventilated seats, powered driver’s seat and a premium Bose sound system.
Safety will be a key focus area for the Sorento. The SUV is expected to come equipped with Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), offering features such as adaptive cruise control, lane assistance and collision prevention technology.
Another major attraction will be Kia’s new AI-powered assistant with Live Generative AI, which will allow more natural voice-based interactions and control of vehicle functions through conversational commands.

The Kia Sorento measures around 4,815 mm in length, 1,900 mm in width and gets a 2,815 mm wheelbase, giving it a strong road presence. The India-spec model will feature some design updates, including revised alloy wheels, chrome detailing on the grille and a redesigned front bumper.
With its premium styling, hybrid technology and feature-rich package, the Sorento will become Kia’s flagship SUV offering in India.
The Kia Sorento is expected to be priced around ₹40 lakh (ex-showroom), placing it in the premium SUV category.
With its hybrid powertrain, luxury features and advanced technology, Kia aims to challenge established players and attract buyers looking for a more premium alternative in the three-row SUV segment.
