Honda ZR-V Hybrid SUV Launch In India
New Delhi: Japanese carmaker Honda is all set to introduce three new models in the Indian market on May 22. The lineup will include the updated Honda City, the refreshed Honda City Hybrid and the much-awaited Honda ZR-V SUV. While the City models are expected to receive subtle cosmetic and feature upgrades, the ZR-V will arrive as a premium offering in the brand’s portfolio.
The biggest highlight of the launch event is likely to be the all-new Honda ZR-V. The SUV will reportedly be brought to India as a Completely Built-Up Unit (CBU), which means pricing is expected to stay on the premium side. Industry estimates suggest the SUV could start at around Rs 45 lakh (on-road).
Globally, the Honda ZR-V is positioned as a stylish 5-seater SUV with a sporty exterior design and premium cabin layout. The SUV is expected to feature a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 10.25-inch digital driver display, dual-zone climate control, ambient lighting, powered front seats, panoramic sunroof, powered tailgate and a 12-speaker Bose sound system.
On the safety front, the international-spec version comes equipped with 11 airbags, Level 2 ADAS, 360-degree camera, TPMS, and front and rear parking sensors. However, Honda is yet to confirm the final feature list for the India-spec model.
Under the hood, the Honda ZR-V is likely to use a 2.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine paired with a strong hybrid setup and dual electric motors. The SUV produces 182 bhp and 315 Nm of torque globally and comes mated to an e-CVT gearbox.
Honda is also expected to unveil facelift versions of the City sedan and City Hybrid. While the exterior and interior design may remain largely unchanged, both models are likely to receive updated infotainment systems and a revised steering wheel design.
The Honda City will continue with its 1.5-litre petrol engine producing 120 bhp and 145 Nm, available with both manual and CVT gearbox options. Meanwhile, the City Hybrid will retain its 1.5-litre strong hybrid setup generating 124 bhp and 253 Nm with an e-CVT transmission.
Prices of the updated City range are expected to increase by Rs 50,000 to Rs 75,000 depending on the variant.
