Mumbai: In a major breakthrough in the alleged TCS conversion case, Maharashtra Police has arrested prime accused Nida Khan from Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar after carrying out a covert surveillance operation for several days.
Khan had been absconding since the controversy surfaced and was reportedly hiding in a rented flat in the city’s Naregaon area. Police officials said the arrest was made after tracking her movements through mobile location analysis and electronic surveillance. With this arrest, the total number of accused held in the case has risen to eight.

According to investigators, Nida Khan was staying in a rented apartment in Kaiser Colony, located in the Naregaon locality of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. Sources said she had been living there for the past three to four days along with family members.
Authorities received specific intelligence inputs about her location during the first week of May. Following this, police intensified monitoring in the area and launched a discreet operation to avoid alerting the accused.
Officials said more than 20 police personnel were deployed in the locality, but none were in uniform. The team moved around like ordinary residents and avoided using official vehicles to maintain secrecy.
After nearly four days of continuous surveillance, police conducted a sudden raid and took Khan into custody without creating public attention. The operation was reportedly planned carefully to prevent any escape attempt.
Investigators also learned that Khan had been in touch with lawyers and was preparing to file an anticipatory bail plea before the High Court. Police feared legal protection could complicate the arrest process, leading them to accelerate the operation.

Following her detention, Khan was produced before a judicial officer late Thursday night. Nashik Police later obtained transit remand and shifted her to Nashik for further questioning.
Police claim the accused attempted to influence some employees toward religious conversion by sharing Islamic literature, videos and related content. Investigators suspect the matter could be linked to a wider organised network, though the probe is still underway.
Authorities also confirmed that Nida Khan had been working as a Process Associate at Tata Consultancy Services since 2021. She was reportedly suspended last month after her name surfaced in the investigation.
