New Delhi: Maruti Suzuki has begun preparing to strengthen its product portfolio for the coming years. The company is set to launch several new models next year, with the E Vitara electric SUV being a key highlight. In addition, the Fronx with a flex-fuel engine, a new Brezza facelift, and a fully electric family car are also on the company's launch list.

Maruti YMC: The First Electric MPV

This electric family car, based on a new architecture, is internally codenamed Maruti YMC. It will be Maruti's second electric car in India and will directly compete with the Kia Carens Clavis EV in the segment. This new electric MPV will be positioned above the Ertiga and XL6 in the company's lineup, offering a premium class range.

Timeline and Platform

Although the company has not yet revealed the official launch date, according to media reports, the Maruti YMC could be launched by the end of 2026. Production is expected to begin in September 2026. This MPV will be based on Maruti's new 27PL skateboard platform, which is also being used for the upcoming E Vitara electric SUV.

Battery and Range

In terms of powertrain, the Maruti YMC is expected to feature the same 49kWh and 61kWh battery packs as the E Vitara. With the smaller battery pack, this electric MPV could offer a range of approximately 343km (WLTP), while the larger battery pack could provide a range of around 543km (ARAI). This range is considered quite attractive for families.

Charging Network and Digital Support

Maruti Suzuki's EV charging infrastructure is also rapidly expanding. The company has already established over 2,000 charging stations in more than 1,100 cities. By 2030, the company aims to create a network of over 100,000 EV charging points. Along with this, before the launch of the e-Vitara, the company has also introduced the 'E for Me' mobile app, which allows consumers to easily access charging station information.
