New Delhi: Maruti Suzuki will soon introduce its first flex-fuel car in India, which will run on a blend of petrol and bioethanol (E20 to E95). This car will be available in the market by 2026 and will help reduce petrol prices. The company has released its new powertrain roadmap, which emphasizes electric, hybrid, and flex-fuel vehicles.
Suzuki Motor Corporation has included internal combustion engines, battery electric vehicles, and hybrid technology in its roadmap for the next 10 years. The company aims to completely eliminate carbon emissions by 2050 in Japan and Europe and by 2070 in India. As part of this strategy, the company is developing environmentally friendly electric and hybrid vehicles alongside conventional petrol engines.

This will be India's first mass-market flex-fuel car, capable of running on an ethanol-petrol blend ranging from 20% to 85%. This model has been developed with assistance from Suzuki Motor Corporation of Japan.
Maruti Suzuki will launch the eVitara electric SUV and the Fronx hybrid compact crossover in 2026. The Fronx will be the brand's first hybrid offering, utilizing the company's in-house developed strong hybrid powertrain. According to reports, this hybrid system will be more economical than Toyota's Atkinson hybrid.
