FASTag Annual Pass to launch on Independence Day
New Delhi: If you often travel on India's National Highways managed by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), you'll see a change in how you pay tolls.
Earlier this year, NHAI launched a new toll payment system to make it easier and cheaper for people who travel often on these highways. This new system is now being introduced on August 15.
The new FASTag annual pass from NHAI costs Rs 3,000 and lasts for one year. It is meant for private vehicles like cars, jeeps, and vans. With this pass, you can travel for free 200 times or use it for up to one year, whichever comes first.
This benefit is only available on certain national highways and expressways.
How to activate the pass and who can do it-
You can activate the FASTag Annual Pass easily through the Highway Yatra mobile app or the official NHAI website. Once your payment and vehicle details are confirmed, the pass is activated within 2 hours.
Remember, this pass is only valid on toll plazas of national highways and expressways. On state highways, state-run expressways, and municipal roads, you'll need to pay normal toll fees because FASTag works as it always has there.
If you complete 200 free trips or the one-year period ends (whichever comes first), your FASTag will return to its normal toll tag. If you want to use the annual pass again, you'll need to go through the same process again by reactivating it on the NHAI website or app.
