Yamaha Motor India has entered the electric two-wheeler segment with the launch of its first electric scooter, EC-06, priced at ₹1.67 lakh (ex-showroom). The scooter comes with a 4kWh fixed battery, delivers an IDC-claimed range of 169 km, and supports home charging.

New Delhi: India Yamaha Motor has launched its first electric scooter, the EC-06, in the Indian market. With this, Yamaha officially enters the electric two-wheeler segment. The electric scooter is priced at ₹1,67,600 (ex-showroom). Initially, it will be sold through Yamaha's Blue Square premium dealerships in select cities. At launch, the scooter will only be available in a Bluish White color option.
The Yamaha EC-06 features a 4kWh fixed battery pack, paired with an Internal Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (IPMSM). According to the company, this motor generates a maximum power of 6.7 kW and a torque of 26 Nm. The scooter has a top speed of 79 km/h. Yamaha claims an IDC-certified range of 169 km, which is sufficient for daily city use.

This electric scooter can be charged using a standard home power outlet. It takes approximately 8 hours to fully charge the battery. The company offers a 3-year or 30,000-km warranty on the battery. For safety, the motor and battery are IP67 rated, while other electronic components are IP65 rated.
The Yamaha EC-06 offers three riding modes - Eco, Standard, and Power. It also features a reverse mode for ease in tight spaces and parking. Suspension is handled by telescopic front forks and rear coil springs. Braking is handled by a Combi Brake System (CBS) with 200 mm disc brakes on both the front and rear.

The scooter features a color LCD instrument cluster, which displays speed, battery status, riding mode, and other important information. LED headlamps and taillamps are standard. Additionally, smartphone connectivity is available through the Yamaha Motor Connect R app.
The EC-06 features 24.5 liters of under-seat storage, which can easily accommodate helmets and everyday items. This Yamaha electric scooter could be a premium and reliable option for urban customers.
