Patna: The Bihar Legislative Assembly received a bomb threat via email on Friday, prompting an immediate and large-scale security response.

Police officials said the alert was taken seriously, with teams quickly mobilised to secure the premises and ensure the safety of lawmakers and staff.

Intensive Search Operation Underway

According to Sachiwalay-1 SDPO Anu Kumari, authorities were informed about the threatening email earlier in the day.

“Police are thoroughly inspecting the Assembly premises,” she said. Bomb disposal squads and dog units have been deployed, and a detailed search operation is underway to rule out any potential threat.

Officials added that all standard security protocols have been activated, and entry and exit points are being closely monitored.

Previous Threat Turned Out to Be Hoax

This is not the first such incident involving the Assembly. A similar bomb threat was received on March 13, which was later declared a hoax after extensive checks.

Authorities are treating the current threat with caution, given the pattern of recent false alarms across multiple regions.

Similar Threats in Delhi and Punjab

The development comes a day after a bomb threat email was sent to the Delhi Legislative Assembly, triggering widespread security checks across government buildings, schools, and a metro station.

Police teams conducted anti-sabotage inspections at all locations mentioned in the email. While initial assessments suggested it was likely a hoax, security was tightened across sensitive areas, and cyber teams were deployed to trace the source.

In a separate incident, several schools in Patiala also received similar threat emails. Bomb squads and police teams carried out sanitisation drives, but no suspicious objects were found.

Authorities on High Alert

Officials said the recent series of bomb threats many of which have turned out to be hoaxes has led to heightened vigilance across states.

Investigations are underway to trace the origin of the Bihar Assembly email. Police have urged the public to remain calm while assuring that all necessary measures are being taken to ensure safety.
