Patna: Popular Bhojpuri actor and singer Pawan Singh on Saturday put an end to speculation about his political debut by declaring that he will not contest the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections. The actor, who joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) earlier this year, said he remains a loyal supporter and “true soldier” of the party.

Sharing a picture with Union Home Minister Amit Shah on social media, Singh wrote, “I, Pawan Singh, want to inform my Bhojpuri community that I did not join the party to contest the Bihar Legislative Assembly elections, nor do I intend to contest. I am a true soldier of the BJP and will remain one.”

His statement came amid growing rumours that the actor was being considered for a BJP ticket following his recent meetings with senior party leaders in Delhi.

Jyoti Singh Meets Prashant Kishor, Sparks Fresh Buzz

The controversy surrounding Pawan Singh’s political future intensified after his wife, Jyoti Singh, met Jan Suraaj founder and political strategist Prashant Kishor on Friday. Her visit to Kishor’s office triggered speculation that she might be exploring a political role or seeking a ticket for the upcoming elections.

However, Jyoti Singh dismissed the rumours, saying her meeting was personal, not political. “I have not come here to seek a ticket or contest elections. My aim is to ensure that no other woman faces the injustice I have faced,” she told reporters.

Prashant Kishor also clarified her stance, saying, “Jyoti ji came to meet us regarding her personal difficulties. Contesting elections was not part of our discussion. Jan Suraaj stands with her for her safety and dignity.”

Marital Dispute Turns Political Flashpoint

The actor’s personal life has been in the spotlight in recent months after reports emerged of tension between Pawan and Jyoti Singh. According to sources, a confrontation took place at Pawan Singh’s Lucknow flat, after which police were called. Jyoti Singh later posted an emotional video alleging harassment and threats.

Reacting to the claims, Pawan Singh denied any wrongdoing. “Would I hurt the feelings of the people who helped me reach this position?” he wrote online, adding that police presence at his home was a preventive measure.

BJP Core Committee to Finalise Candidates Today?

Meanwhile, the BJP’s core team tasked with finalising candidates for the Bihar Assembly elections is meeting today, party sources said. A meeting of the BJP’s central election committee is scheduled for tomorrow, attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and BJP chief JP Nadda.

The party is expected to release its first list of candidates on Monday in coordination with its NDA allies, including Nitish Kumar’s JD(U), Chirag Paswan’s LJP (Ram Vilas), and Jitan Ram Manjhi’s HAM.

Sources confirmed that seat-sharing talks within the NDA are proceeding smoothly and that the alliance aims to present a united front against the Opposition alliance of RJD and Congress, as well as Prashant Kishor’s emerging Jan Suraaj movement.
