Samastipur: A couple was charred alive in an accidental fire which broke out in a house in Jitwarpur Hakimabad village under Mufassil police station area of Samastipur. The tragedy occurred on Wednesday night.
Police said here on Thursday that the incident took place when Lakhan Sahni (70) and his wife Purani Devi (65) were sleeping in their house in the village.

The bodies were sent for postmortem
In March a huge fire suddenly broke out in a hut located at Janakpur turn in Gaurichak police station area in Patna. The incident created a sensation in the entire area.
According to the Dynamite News correspondent, two innocent children died on the spot in this accident, while two other children were seriously burnt. Both the injured children have been admitted to Nalanda Medical College and Hospital (NMCH), where their condition remains critical.
According to local people and police, the family was sleeping in the hut at the time of the accident. Incense sticks were lit to avoid mosquitoes, but these incense sticks became the cause of the accident. At night, a spark flew and fell on the sheet kept in the hut and gradually the fire engulfed the entire house.
The fire spread so fast that the elder members of the family somehow managed to save their lives and get out, but it was not possible to take out the four children sleeping inside. By the time the local people and fire brigade reached the spot, two innocent children had died.
The victim's family was crying inconsolably
Sudhir Nat, who lives in the hut, said that he had been living here with his family for many years. Sudhir said, "When we opened our eyes, we saw fire all around. Somehow we got out but could not save the children. We have nothing left now. Not a single household item is left, there is no money even for food. Now there is no support."
After getting information about the incident, the team of Gaurichak police station and 4 fire brigades reached the spot and after a lot of hard work the fire was brought under control. Gaurichak police station in-charge Arun Kumar said that information was received about a fire in which two children died due to burns and two others were injured. How the fire started is being investigated. At present, both the bodies have been sent to NMCH for post-mortem.
