Bihar Votes Tomorrow: Lalu’s sons, 2 Deputy CMs, and film stars Khesari, Maithili in spotlight

Patna: The first phase of the 2025 Bihar Assembly Elections is scheduled for tomorrow (November 6) for 121 seats across 18 districts. The campaigning for these 121 seats ended at 5 pm on Tuesday. These include several high-profile seats, including Raghopur, Tarapur, Lakhisarai, Mokama, Danapur, Mahua, Chhapra, Alinagar, and Raghunathpur. These seats feature several new faces, as well as several old faces. Let's take a closer look at the 10 most popular seats in the first phase. Raghopur Assembly Former Deputy CM and Lalu Prasad Yadav's younger son, Tejashwi Yadav, is the RJD candidate from the Raghopur Assembly constituency. The Grand Alliance has declared Tejashwi as its Chief Ministerial candidate this time. Tejashwi began his electoral career from this constituency. He won this seat in 2015 and 2020. The BJP has fielded its previous candidate, Satish Kumar, from here. Satish Kumar defeated Tejashwi Yadav's mother and RJD candidate Rabri Devi on a JDU ticket in 2010. Jansuraj has fielded Chanchal Kumar here. Tarapur Assembly Bihar's Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary has been nominated from Tarapur this time. He previously won the Parbatta seat on an RJD ticket. He left the RJD in 2014 and was elected as an MLC in 2020. He is now contesting the Tarapur seat on a BJP ticket. He is facing Arun Kumar of the RJD. Lakhisarai Assembly Vijay Kumar Sinha, who won three consecutive times from Lakhisarai on a BJP ticket, is contesting from here again. Sinha, the Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar, first won from Lakhisarai in the February 2005 elections. He lost the 2005 October election to RJD's Phuleena Singh. However, he regained his seat in 2010. He is facing Congress's Amresh Kumar. Mokama Assembly Bahubali and JDU candidate Anant Singh is contesting from here. This seat has been the subject of national attention following the Mokama massacre. Singh has been accused of this murder. He was arrested mid-campaign. After this, Union Minister Lallan Singh took charge of his campaign. Danapur Assembly The BJP has fielded former MP and former Union Minister Ramkripal Yadav from here. Ramkripal lost the Pataliputra seat in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections and was defeated by Lalu Yadav's daughter Misa Bharti. RJD has fielded Reet Lal Rai against Ramkripal Yadav, who won the 2020 assembly elections. Mahua Assembly Lalu Yadav's elder son, Tej Pratap Yadav, is contesting again after five years on the ticket of his own party. RJD has fielded Mukesh Kumar Roshan, and Jansuraj has fielded Indrajit Pradhan. Chhapra Assembly The Chhapra seat in Saran district is in the news because of the famous Bhojpuri singer and actor Khesari Lal Yadav. RJD has fielded Shatrughan Yadav, also known as Khesari Lal Yadav, as part of the Grand Alliance. Against Khesari Lal, the BJP has fielded Chhoti Kumari, and Jansuraj has fielded Jaiprakash Singh. A total of 10 candidates are contesting this seat. Alinagar Assembly This is one of the most talked-about seats in this division. The BJP has fielded folk singer Maithili Thakur. RJD has fielded Vinod Mishra. Jansuraj has fielded Biplab Kumar Chaudhary. Raghunathpur Assembly RJD has fielded Osama Shahab, son of strongman Shahabuddin, for this seat in Siwan district. The JDU has fielded Vikas Kumar Singh. Rahul Kirti is contesting for the Jansuraj constituency. The RJD has won the seat in the last two elections. Harishankar Yadav of the RJD won both times. This time, the party has fielded Osama Shahab instead. Garkha Assembly Semant Mrinal, nephew of Lok Jan Shakti Party (Ram Vilas) supremo Chirag Paswan, is contesting this seat for the first time on a LJP (R) ticket. The BJP candidate lost the seat last time. This time, as part of the NDA alliance, the BJP left the seat for the LJP. The RJD has fielded the incumbent MLA Surendra Ram. The Jansuraj constituency has fielded Manohar Kumar Ram.
