The development follows Nitish Kumar taking oath as a member of the Rajya Sabha earlier this month. His shift from state politics has paved the way for the BJP to take a leading role in shaping the next government in Bihar.
This transition marks a significant political shift, with the party expected to take greater control of governance in the state.
A meeting of BJP legislators is likely to be held in Patna on April 14, where the party will formally elect its legislative leader. The chosen leader is expected to play a key role in government formation.
Meanwhile, Sanjay Kumar Jha of the JD(U) indicated that the process of forming the new government is expected to begin after April 13.

Among the potential candidates, Samrat Choudhary is widely considered a leading contender for the chief minister’s post. Currently serving as Deputy Chief Minister, he has seen a rapid rise within the party over recent years.
Choudhary’s political background and support among key voter groups are seen as important factors in his favour. However, the final decision will rest with the BJP’s central leadership.
