New Delhi: Popular Bhojpuri actor and singer Khesari Lal Yadav has hinted at retiring from politics. Speaking to the media, he clearly stated that politics is not his cup of tea. He said that in politics, one often has to adapt to circumstances, even though he is a person who speaks the truth by nature. He insisted, "I am an artist and I should be recognized as such."
Khesari Lal Yadav, whose real name is Shatrughan Yadav, contested the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections as a Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) candidate. However, he lost to Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Chhoti Kumari by 7,600 votes. He admitted that the experience of contesting elections was a learning experience for him, but during this time he realized that maintaining honesty and truthfulness in politics is not easy.

Recently, rumors of Khesari joining the BJP had intensified. This speculation intensified on social media after Bhojpuri actor Ritesh Pandey left Jan Suraj and some statements by Manoj Tiwari. However, Khesari dismissed all these rumors and clearly stated that he is not joining any political party. He said that he now wants to focus completely on music and acting.
During the conversation, he was also asked about the ongoing divorce dispute between Bhojpuri star Pawan Singh and his wife Jyoti Singh. Khesari refused to comment on this sensitive issue. He said that this is Pawan Singh's personal and family matter and outside interference is not appropriate.

Khesari explained that when he previously spoke on this issue, he faced heavy trolling on social media. He said, "I also have a daughter, so I speak thoughtfully. I don't want to say anything that would escalate a controversy in anyone's family matters."
It is clear from Khesari's statement that he now wants to distance himself from politics and concentrate fully on his art career.
