Political war in Bihar over Nitish Kumar; Mukesh Sahni targets BJP, Chirag Paswan praises leadership

Sahni claimed that the BJP’s real intention is to gradually weaken and eventually eliminate the Janata Dal (United) as a political force. “During the elections, we had already warned that the BJP would not allow Nitish Kumar to remain Chief Minister for the full term from 2025 to 2030.

Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar moving to the Rajya Sabha has triggered sharp political reactions, with Mukesh Sahni, founder of the Vikassheel Insaan Party and former Bihar minister, alleging that the decision is part of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s larger political strategy.

Even if they made him Chief Minister, they would find a way to remove him. Today, that reality is becoming clear,” he said.

According to Sahni, similar political strategies have been witnessed in other states where the BJP has allegedly worked to marginalize its allies over time. He argued that sending Nitish Kumar to the Rajya Sabha is part of this broader plan.

He further stated that the mandate of the Bihar Assembly elections was largely in the name of Nitish Kumar. “The NDA’s decision not only disregards the electoral mandate but also disrespects the sentiments of the people of Bihar. The public will not forgive the BJP for this,” Sahni said.

Expressing personal sympathy for the veteran leader, Sahni added that removing Nitish Kumar from Bihar politics at this stage of his life would be inappropriate.

Meanwhile, Union Minister for Food Processing Industries and Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) president Chirag Paswan defended Nitish Kumar and praised his leadership. In a post on Instagram, Paswan said that with nearly two decades of experience as Chief Minister, Nitish Kumar has implemented numerous development initiatives in Bihar.

“Under his leadership, Bihar has gained a new identity in the fields of development, good governance, and social justice,” Paswan wrote.

He further highlighted that initiatives related to women’s empowerment, upliftment of extremely backward classes, and youth development have provided a new direction to the state’s progress.

The political debate surrounding Nitish Kumar’s possible Rajya Sabha entry continues to intensify, with leaders across the political spectrum expressing sharply differing views on the move.
