Patna: RJD leader Tejashwi Prasad Yadav narrowly escaped on Friday midnight when a speeding truck hit a vehicle of his carcade, injuring three policemen at Gardania Chowk under Goraul police station area in Vaishali district of Bihar.

Police Statement

Police said on Saturday that Tejashwi was returning from Madhepura late last night and stopped at Gardania Chowk for tea. While Tejashwi sipped tea at roadside restaurant, a speeding truck hit a vehicle of his carcade, causing injuries to three personal security guards, police added.

Security Guards Admitted To Hospital

"The security guards were admitted to a local government hospital for treatment", police said, adding that local police escort caught the truck driver after a chase. Lawful action would be taken against him for careless driving," police stated.

Probe Demanded

Rohini Acharya, the elder sister of Tejashwi, demanded a thorough probe into the incident as it could be conspiracy to hurt her brother. "He was hardly five feet away from the spot", she pointed out.

Unknown Vehicle Hit The Car

Vaishali's Civil Surgeon Dr Shyamnandan Prasad gave information about this incident. He said that the Leader of Opposition was coming from somewhere. There was a road accident in his escort vehicle. An unknown vehicle hit his car. He also told that Tejashwi Yadav himself came to the hospital. All the injured are being treated. If they are fine here then it is fine, otherwise they will be sent to a higher center. At present, all the injured are out of danger.

Neeraj Kumar

JD(U) MLC and party Chief spokesman Neeraj Kumar refuted the opposition charge of a poor law and order situation in the state. "The very fact that Tejashwi was sipping tea at a roadside dhaba is a reflection of a better law and order situation in Bihar," he pointed out.

"Besides, the police caught the accused truck driver swiftly. It shows police personnel were alert and discharged their duties properly", Kumar pointed out.

"All the injured security guards were treated in a government hospital where doctors and para medical staff were present", said the JD(U) leader and questioned Tejashwi's claim on poor health facilities in Bihar.
