Who is Maithili Thakur?
Maithili Thakur hails from Benipatti in Madhubani. She was also appointed the 'State Icon' of Bihar by the Election Commission. Trained in Indian classical and folk music, Maithili Thakur was selected for the Sangeet Natak Akademi's Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar for 2021 for her contributions to Bihar's folk music. Maithili Thakur, along with her two brothers, was trained in folk and Hindustani classical music, harmonium, and tabla by her grandfather and father.
