Chandigarh: Senior Haryana IPS officer ADGP Y Puran Kumar was cremated at the Sector 25 cremation ground in Chandigarh after eight days. A heavy police presence was observed outside the cremation ground. After the post-mortem, the body was brought to his official residence in Sector 24 and then taken to the cremation ground. IAS Pankaj Agarwal and IAS Raj Narayan Kaushik were also present.

Reshma Singh, a member of the 31-member committee, stated that the scheduled foot march from Sector 17 has been cancelled. He stated that the family has not received justice from the central and state governments, but the decision to conduct a post-mortem and cremation was made out of social and humanitarian considerations.
Amneet P. Kumar stated that he consented to the post-mortem due to the assurance of a fair, transparent, and impartial investigation by the UT Police and the Haryana government's commitment to lawful action. The post-mortem was conducted in the presence of a ballistics expert and a magistrate, and the entire process was videographed.

The Chandigarh District Court had issued a notice to Amneet P Kumar. The police had applied to the court seeking permission to conduct a post-mortem on the body of ADGP Puran Kumar. The police had to resort to the court when the family did not cooperate.
After nine days, the government has breathed a sigh of relief in the case of ADGP Y Puran Kumar. The body was respectfully handed over to the family. After the post-mortem and funeral, the investigation into the case will continue and all legal procedures will be followed.
