Himachal Chief Secretary Sanjay Gupta: Shimla, Nov 7 (PTI) The Himachal Pradesh government Tuesday appointed senior IAS officer Sanjay Gupta as the new Chief Secretary of the state. The posting is considered a major development in the state’s administrative set-up and bureaucracy.

Himachal Chief Secretary Sanjay Gupta is a 1988-batch IAS officer of Himachal Pradesh cadre. He was Additional Chief Secretary (Town & Country Planning and Housing) and also holding the additional charge of Chief Secretary.

with immediate effect in public interest” with the approval of the Governor of Himachal Pradesh, according to an official notification issued by Department of Personnel, Appointment-1 Section.

The notification stated that IAS Sanjay Gupta will now formally take over as Chief Secretary to the Government of Himachal Pradesh with headquarters at Shimla.

Sanjay Gupta, Himachal Pradesh Chief Secretary will be the head of state bureaucracy and will play a key role in administrative coordination, implementation of the policy and governance across departments in the state. The appointment of IAS Officer of Himachal is expected to boost administrative functioning in the run up to several key government initiatives.
