Chandigarh: The tragic case of Y. Puran Kumar, a senior Haryana IPS officer who committed suicide by shooting himself in Chandigarh, has taken a new and serious turn. This incident has sent shockwaves through police and administrative circles.

Suicide Note and Allegations Revealed

According to information received from reliable police sources, a 9-page suicide note has been recovered from the scene. This note contains shocking revelations.

It names a current Haryana IPS officer and two former IPS officers. This note could completely change the course of the case and points to a major scam.

Corruption FIR and Mental Pressure

Just two days before his suicide, a First Information Report (FIR) related to corruption was filed against Puran Kumar's gunman at the Urban Estate police station in Rohtak.

It is believed that Puran Kumar feared that he too could be implicated in the case. This fear may have caused him immense mental pressure. Chandigarh Police is now intensifying its investigation into this aspect.

Detailed Information About the Suicide

Y. Puran Kumar committed suicide in the basement of his official residence (house number 116) in Sector 11, Chandigarh. He lived on the ground floor of the same house with his wife and two daughters.

At the time of the incident on Tuesday, only Puran Kumar and his younger daughter were present. After some time, Puran Kumar went to the basement while his daughter was busy with her work.

Upon reaching the basement, he sat on a chair there, placed his personal pistol to his temple, and fired the shot. The incident came to light when his daughter went to the basement and was shocked to see her father's body and blood. She immediately informed the police.

Family Background and Recent Deployment

Y. Puran Kumar was originally from Andhra Pradesh and had served in the Haryana Police for a long time. He was a 2001 batch IPS officer and had just been appointed Inspector General (IG) of Police at the Police Training College in Sunaria, Rohtak, on September 29th.

His wife, Amneet P. Kumar, is a senior IAS officer in the Haryana government and serves as Secretary of the Civil Aviation Department. She left for Japan on October 5th with a delegation led by Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Saini and will return on October 8th.

Their younger daughter is studying in Chandigarh, while their elder daughter is pursuing higher education abroad.

Current Investigation Status

After inspecting the scene, Chandigarh Police SSP Kanwardeep Kaur confirmed that it was definitely a case of suicide. She stated that Puran Kumar had bullet wounds on his head.

Police are continuing the investigation to determine the exact cause of the suicide. Puran Kumar's body has been sent for a post-mortem examination to the Medical College Hospital in Sector 16, Chandigarh.

According to hospital director Suman Singh, the post-mortem process will be completed by a board of doctors on Wednesday.
