Chandigarh: Haryana Police IG Y Puran Kumar shoots himself amidst official tour of IAS wife

Chandigarh: A tragic incident occurred on Tuesday in Chandigarh, the capital of Punjab and Haryana. Haryana Police IG Y Puran Kumar committed suicide by shooting himself in his Chandigarh Sector 11 home. Upon receiving information about the incident, police and forensic teams immediately arrived at the scene.

Police Action At Scene

Upon receiving information, the Chandigarh Police SSP, CFSL, and forensic team also arrived at the scene and began investigation. Police confirmed the suicide and took the body into custody and transported it to GMSH Hospital in Sector 16.

According to sources, a suicide note was also found at the scene, which the police have taken into custody. However, the police have not yet confirmed the suicide note.

IG Y Puran Kumar Posting and Family

IG Y Puran Kumar was a 2010 batch IPS officer, most recently posted in Sunaria, Rohtak. He lived in his bungalow in Chandigarh Sector 11. According to reports, he committed suicide at his home.

IAS officer P Amneet Kumar wife is currently on a visit to Japan. Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, Minister Rao Narveer, and several other senior officials are also accompanying her. Consequently, the incident has caused immense grief and concern among the family and administrative officials.

As soon as news of the suicide spread, a crowd gathered at IG Y Puran Kumar's home. Police immediately arrived at the scene, brought the situation under control, and began an investigation.
