New Delhi: The price of commercial LPG cylinders has been slashed by up to ₹209 from August 1 in major cities. The decision has benefited restaurants, hotels, and other organizations using commercial cooking gas. There is no change in the prices of domestic LPG cylinders.
In the recent round of reduction, the price of the 19 kg commercial LPG cylinder has been reduced to ₹202 in Delhi and ₹209 in Kolkata. With the reduction in prices, the new price level is now ₹2,738 per cylinder in Delhi and ₹2,872 in Kolkata.
As per the latest figures, the rate of commercial LPG cylinders in Mumbai is ₹2,691, ₹2,821 in Bengaluru, ₹2,985 in Hyderabad, ₹2,906 in Chennai, ₹2,908 in Bhubaneswar, ₹2,860 in Lucknow, ₹2,738 in Noida, and ₹3,018 in Patna.
The latest decrease comes on the heels of a ₹183.50 cut that was announced on July 1, when oil marketing companies slashed the price of commercial LPG cylinders in Delhi by ₹2,930. The consecutive cuts are likely to reduce the costs of operations for restaurants and food joints.
Restaurant owners and vendors have appreciated this cut because they think it will contribute to the reduction of their operating costs. But many feel that the prices of LPG in the commercial market sector are still too high and have demanded a reduction in prices to help small businessmen.
The commercial LPG prices rose in recent months due to the rising geopolitical concerns in the Middle East region. The prices rose especially during the time of the US-Iran conflict as this resulted in disruptions to energy supply via the Strait of Hormuz.
