New Delhi : Global crude oil prices declined on Monday after climbing to six-month highs last week. Investors weighed easing oil shipments through key Middle Eastern routes against renewed security threats and the possibility of further escalation in the US-Iran conflict.
Brent crude futures fell around 1.31% to $115.19 per barrel, while US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) dropped approximately 1.5% to $101.83 per barrel . The decline followed a strong rally last week, when concerns over attacks on Saudi infrastructure pushed prices higher.

Despite Monday’s pullback, both benchmarks remain above $100 per barrel, reflecting persistent uncertainty over global energy supplies.
Tensions across the region continue to influence oil market movements. Iran-related geopolitical risks, along with attacks involving Yemen’s Houthi rebels and Saudi Arabia, have heightened concerns about the security of oil facilities and export routes.

The Strait of Hormuz remains a critical focus for traders because it connects major Gulf oil producers with international markets. Although crude shipments through the waterway have recovered towards pre-conflict levels, any renewed disruption could tighten supplies and trigger another price surge.
Brent crude has risen sharply in 2026 amid conflict-related disruptions and fears of further damage to energy infrastructure.
Market participants are closely watching developments between Washington and Tehran for signs of either escalation or diplomatic progress. Statements from political leaders and the possibility of renewed military action could influence the direction of prices in the coming sessions.

Investors are also tracking upcoming US Federal Reserve policy signals and weekly American crude inventory data for clues about demand, supply and broader economic conditions.
While Monday’s decline indicates some profit-taking after last week’s rally, it does not necessarily signal a sustained easing in the market. Oil prices are likely to remain sensitive to geopolitical headlines, shipping conditions and evidence of a lasting recovery in regional supplies.
