Moga: Two cousins were killed and two others seriously injured after unidentified assailants allegedly opened fire outside residential houses in Punjab’s Moga late Sunday night. The attackers reportedly arrived in a black Scorpio SUV and fired multiple rounds at people gathered outside their homes in the Angadpura locality. Police have launched an investigation, recovered cartridge cases from the scene and begun examining CCTV footage to identify the suspects and establish the motive behind the attack.

A late-night shooting in Punjab’s Moga turned a residential neighbourhood into a crime scene after armed assailants allegedly fired indiscriminately at a group of people outside their homes. Two people lost their lives, while two others sustained serious injuries in the attack, triggering a police investigation into a suspected case of personal enmity.

The deceased have been identified as cousins Sahil Jindal and Gagan Jindal. The injured were taken to a hospital for treatment. According to the initial account, five people were gathered outside their homes in the Angadpura locality when a black Scorpio SUV arrived and occupants opened fire.

The incident occurred late on Sunday, October 25, with the assailants fleeing after the shooting. The sudden burst of gunfire has raised concerns among local residents, while investigators are working to reconstruct the sequence of events and determine who carried out the attack.

Eyewitnesses Report 15–20 Rounds Fired

Eyewitnesses claimed that the attackers fired approximately 15–20 rounds during the incident. Police, however, said the exact number of shots fired had not yet been established.

Moga Senior Superintendent of Police Sartaj Singh Chahal said police teams reached the location soon after receiving information about the shooting. Investigators recovered three cartridge cases from the scene, and a forensic team was called in to examine the available evidence.

The difference between the eyewitness accounts and the number of cartridge cases recovered makes the forensic examination particularly important. Investigators will need to establish whether the recovered cases represent all the ammunition discharged at the scene or whether additional evidence can be found.

The recovery of cartridge cases, examination of the firing location and collection of witness statements are expected to form part of the evidence-gathering process. Forensic findings may also help investigators assess the nature of the shooting and identify potential leads.

CCTV Footage Under Scanner as Police Probe Motive

Police have begun checking CCTV cameras installed in and around Angadpura to trace the black Scorpio SUV and establish the movements of the suspected attackers before and after the shooting.

Investigators are also recording eyewitness accounts and examining the circumstances in which the group was targeted. The family has reportedly named some suspects, although their alleged involvement remains to be established through the investigation.

According to the police’s preliminary assessment, personal enmity could be behind the attack. However, the motive has not been conclusively established, and investigators are examining the available evidence before drawing firm conclusions.

The identity of the people travelling in the SUV, the sequence of the firing and the route used by the assailants to escape are among the key questions the investigation must address.

Moga Police Begin Investigation After Double Killing

The shooting has left two families grieving and two injured people receiving medical attention. The deaths of Sahil Jindal and Gagan Jindal, who were cousins, have added urgency to the investigation as police work to establish accountability.

The recovery of physical evidence, forensic examination and CCTV analysis could prove crucial in identifying the attackers and corroborating the accounts of witnesses. Police have not yet established the exact number of rounds fired, and the suspected motive remains under investigation.

With two people dead and two others injured, investigators face the immediate task of identifying the assailants, verifying the allegations against the named suspects and determining the circumstances that led to the attack. Further details are expected as the investigation progresses.
