New Delhi: Arunachal Pradesh has announced a 2% increase in Dearness Allowance (DA) for government employees and Dearness Relief (DR) for pensioners, bringing the total rate to 60% of basic pay and pension. The decision, confirmed by the Chief Minister’s Office, will come into effect from January 1, 2026.
The move aligns with the Centre’s recent revision in DA and DR, ensuring parity for employees serving under the state administration.

In total, the hike is expected to benefit 69,248 employees and 40,477 pensioners, covering more than one lakh individuals across the state.
The increase in DA and DR will have a significant financial implication. According to official estimates, the annual burden on the state treasury will be approximately ₹100.54 crore.
Additionally, arrears for the four-month period from January to April 2026 will be paid in cash. This payout alone is expected to cost around ₹33.51 crore.
From May 2026 onward, employees and pensioners will receive the revised amount as part of their regular monthly salary and pension.

Chief Minister Pema Khandu welcomed the decision and congratulated government employees and pensioners. He expressed hope that the enhanced financial support would motivate them to continue contributing effectively to public welfare.
The government also emphasized its commitment to ensuring that benefits reach all sections, particularly those at the grassroots level.
The DA hike comes as a timely relief amid rising living costs, helping employees and pensioners maintain purchasing power. It also reflects the state’s effort to stay aligned with central policies while addressing the needs of its workforce.
