New Delhi: The process regarding the 8th Pay Commission has now accelerated. It's not just limited to paperwork; work has already begun on the ground. The Commission's team is visiting various states and holding discussions with employee organizations and unions.

How Many People Will Be Affected?

This decision will impact approximately 4.5 million central government employees and 6 million pensioners. For this reason, the Commission is preparing a report taking into account every suggestion and demand.

Where are the meetings taking place?

Recently, the Commission held discussions with employees in Uttarakhand. An important meeting is scheduled for Delhi between April 28 and 30. Following this, meetings will also be held in Pune and other cities in Maharashtra in May.

Demand for Changes in Salary and Allowances

Employee organizations have demanded an increase in basic salary, as well as improvements in TA, HRA, and other allowances. The most significant demand is to increase the minimum salary from ₹18,000 to approximately ₹69,000.

Emphasis on Fitment Factor

The drafting committee of the National Council—Joint Consultative Machinery has proposed increasing the fitment factor. The organization wants it to be increased to 3.833, which could significantly alter the salary structure.

What's expected next?

If the government accepts these demands, employees' salaries could see a significant increase. However, the final decision will be made only after the Commission's report and government approval. The 8th Pay Commission has brought great hope for employees. Discussions and suggestions are currently underway, but in the future, this decision could change the financial situation of millions of people.
