New Delhi: Government oil companies have kept petrol and diesel prices unchanged today. They have kept fuel prices stable. However, private companies have suddenly increased prices, impacting consumers.

Government companies keep rates stable

According to government oil companies, petrol prices remain stable across the country, ranging from ₹94 to ₹105-₹106 per liter. Diesel is selling in the range of ₹78 to ₹97 per liter. It is a relief for consumers that no government price hike has been announced.

Private companies have increased prices

However, private oil companies have also increased prices significantly. According to reports, after Nayara Energy, Shell India has also increased fuel prices effective April 1. Following this change, a significant difference is observed in the prices of petrol and diesel.

How much have prices increased?

Shell India has increased the price of petrol by ₹7.41 per liter and diesel by ₹25 per liter. Following this increase, the price of petrol at private outlets has reached approximately ₹119 per liter and diesel approximately ₹123 per liter.

According to experts, the primary reason for this is the rise in crude oil prices in the international market.

Rise in Crude Oil Prices

Globally, crude oil prices have crossed $100 per barrel. Consequently, companies are adjusting fuel prices to reduce their losses. This is having a direct impact on private petrol pumps in India.

Petrol and Diesel Prices in Major Cities

Petrol in Delhi is priced at ₹94.77 and diesel at ₹87.67 per liter. In Mumbai, petrol is priced at ₹103.54 and diesel at ₹90.03. In Kolkata, petrol is priced at ₹105.45 and diesel at ₹92.02.

In Bengaluru, petrol is selling at ₹102.92 and diesel at ₹90.99 per liter, while in Chennai, petrol is selling at ₹100.80 and diesel at ₹92.39. Prices in cities like Patna, Jaipur, and Thiruvananthapuram also remain at varying levels.

Premium Fuel Prices Also Rise

Indian Oil recently increased the price of premium petrol XP100 by ₹11 per liter, taking its price from ₹149 to ₹160 per liter.

Similarly, the price of the premium diesel variant, Xtra Green, has also increased from ₹91.49 to ₹92.99 per liter.

Impact on Consumers

This fluctuation in oil prices can directly impact the pockets of the general public. Experts believe that if crude oil prices continue to rise at this rate in the international market, further changes may be expected in the coming days.
