Good Friday: NSE, BSE, MCX, Bank closed today? Here’s what’s open and what’s not

New Delhi: Today on April 3, is a nationwide public holiday on Good Friday. Consequently, there is no trading on the Indian stock market. Equity, derivatives, and currency segments are completely closed on both the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and the National Stock Exchange (NSE). Previously, the market was closed on March 31st due to Mahavir Jayanti, resulting in a reduction in trading days this week.

Impact on Commodity Markets

Along with the stock market, the commodity market is also closed today. Trading will be suspended on the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) in both the morning and evening sessions. The National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange (NCDEX) will also be completely closed. The MCX previously saw partial trading on March 31st, but there is no trading today due to the full holiday.

Banking Services Disrupted

Banks are also closed in most parts of the country due to Good Friday. Banking services will be affected in many major cities, including Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR). However, banks will remain open as usual in some cities, such as Agartala, Guwahati, Jaipur, Jammu, and Srinagar. Customers are advised to confirm the situation with their local branch.

Schools, colleges, and offices are also closed

Schools, colleges, and most government and private offices are closed due to the public holiday. However, online services and digital banking platforms are functioning normally, providing some relief to the public.

More Holidays

Another market holiday is coming in the month of April. The stock market will be closed on April 14th for Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Jayanti. In addition, the market will be closed for Maharashtra Day (May 1st) and Bakrid (May 28th) in May, and for Muharram (June 26th) in June.
