New Delhi: Jindal Steel Limited has re-appointed Vidya Rattan (VR) Sharma as its Managing Director with immediate effect, marking the return of one of the company's most experienced leaders. The company said Sharma's appointment is aimed at accelerating growth, improving operational excellence, and steering Jindal Steel into its next phase of expansion.
Jindal Steel announced on Friday that VR Sharma has officially taken charge as the Managing Director of the company. Sharma had earlier served in the same role between 2019 and 2022, during which he played a key role in the company's business operations and strategic growth.
Following his tenure as Managing Director, Sharma continued to remain associated with the Jindal Group as an advisor. In that capacity, he worked closely with the company's leadership team on several strategic projects and business initiatives.
The company said his return reflects its confidence in his leadership and deep understanding of the steel industry.
According to the company, Sharma has been entrusted with leading Jindal Steel's next phase of development. The management expects him to drive business expansion while strengthening operational efficiency across the organisation.

VR Sharma holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering and an MBA in Marketing. Over the years, he has built an extensive career in the steel sector and has represented the industry through several important policy and trade bodies.
His experience spans both corporate leadership and industry advocacy, making him one of the well-recognised figures in India's metals and mining sector.

Chairman, Indian Lead Zinc Association
Chairman, Sponge Iron Manufacturers Association of India
Chairman, Steel Marketing Committee, Confederation of Indian Industry (CII)

Member, NITI Aayog Committee on the Promotion of Coal Gasification in India
