SBI PO Recruitment 2026 Begins: 1,500 vacancies announced, check eligibility and last date

New Delhi: The State Bank of India (SBI) has officially started the application process for the recruitment of Probationary Officers (PO) for the 2026-27 cycle. The recruitment drive offers 1,500 vacancies and is expected to attract lakhs of aspirants seeking a career in the banking sector.

The online registration process commenced on June 18 and will continue until July 8, 2026. Interested candidates can submit their applications through the official SBI careers portal.

Major Opportunity for Banking Aspirants

SBI PO is considered one of the most sought-after recruitment examinations in the banking industry. Candidates selected through the process may be posted anywhere across India, depending on organisational requirements.

The recruitment notification states that graduates from any recognised university are eligible to apply. Final-year students can also submit applications provisionally, subject to meeting the required eligibility criteria before appointment.

Selection Process to Be Conducted in Three Stages

The recruitment process will consist of multiple phases designed to assess candidates' aptitude, knowledge and personality.

The first stage will be the Preliminary Examination, followed by the Main Examination. Candidates who qualify will then appear for a Psychometric Test, Group Exercise and Personal Interview before the final merit list is prepared.

Important Dates Candidates Should Know

According to the tentative schedule, preliminary examination call letters are expected to be released in the second or third week of July.

The Preliminary Examination is scheduled for August 2026, while the Main Examination is expected to take place in September. The final stages, including the Psychometric Test, Group Exercise and Interview, are likely to be conducted during October and November.

The final result is expected to be declared by November or December 2026.

Eligibility and Age Criteria

Applicants must possess a bachelor's degree from a recognised institution. The minimum age requirement is 21 years, while the upper age limit is 30 years as of April 1, 2026.

Age relaxation benefits will be available to candidates belonging to eligible reserved categories as per government norms.
