New Delhi: Apple announced on May 7 that it will expand its renewable energy infrastructure in India with an investment of ₹100 crore aimed at strengthening clean energy capacity and supporting long-term sustainability goals in the country.

150 MW Renewable Energy Development

The initiative focuses on developing more than 150 MW of renewable energy projects across India. The company stated that this capacity could power over 150,000 average Indian households annually while contributing to reduced carbon emissions and improved air quality.

Partnership with CleanMax

Apple will execute the project in collaboration with renewable energy developer CleanMax, which will support the rollout of solar and other clean energy installations across multiple locations in India. The partnership builds on earlier efforts between the two organisations to scale rooftop solar systems for Apple offices and retail stores operating on 100 per cent renewable energy.

Carbon Neutrality Goals

The company also reaffirmed its broader goal of achieving carbon neutrality across its global operations by 2030. According to Apple, investments like these are essential for transitioning supply chains toward cleaner energy sources and reducing environmental impact across manufacturing and distribution networks.

Environmental Partnerships and Waste Management

Apple has also expanded environmental collaborations with WWF-India, supporting waste management and recycling initiatives designed to prevent plastic leakage and improve material recovery systems. These programs are being extended to regions such as Coimbatore with local participation.

Support for Green Startups

In addition, Apple has partnered with Acumen to support six green startups working in areas such as circular economy solutions, waste management innovation and regenerative agriculture, further strengthening India’s green entrepreneurship ecosystem.

Long-Term Sustainability Vision

Apple said such initiatives reinforce its environmental commitments while supporting scalable clean energy and sustainability models benefiting communities and businesses across India in the long term going forward globally and regionally as well today.
