Bengaluru: A 33-year-old man was found dead at the apartment of Kannada actress Krishi Thapanda in Bengaluru’s RR Nagar on Thursday, prompting police to launch an investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death.

The incident was reported from Elegants Apartment in RR Nagar. The deceased has been identified as Vaishak. According to preliminary information, Vaishak had reportedly visited the actress’s apartment on Wednesday night. Police suspect that he died by suicide after allegedly hanging himself from a ceiling fan when no one else was present in the flat.

Officials said Krishi Thapanda was not at home at the time of the incident. After receiving information, RR Nagar police reached the spot, carried out an initial inspection and collected forensic evidence. The body was later shifted to Victoria Hospital for post-mortem examination.

Police said the exact cause of death will be confirmed only after the autopsy report is received.

Investigators are examining multiple angles to establish the sequence of events that led to Vaishak’s death. The actress and the deceased’s family members are likely to be questioned as part of the probe.

According to reports, Vaishak had been facing personal issues and was allegedly involved in a domestic dispute with his wife. He was reportedly staying at or frequently visiting Krishi Thapanda’s residence following differences with his spouse.

Police are also looking into his past record. Vaishak had earlier been arrested in connection with a case involving alleged death threats to businessman Aravind Reddy. That case had been registered at HAL Police Station in Bengaluru.

The incident has drawn attention in the Kannada film industry and among the public. However, police have urged people not to speculate, stating that the investigation is still at a preliminary stage.

An unnatural death case has been registered at RR Nagar Police Station. Officials said further action will be taken based on the post-mortem findings and the ongoing investigation.
