Heavy police deployment in Dehradun
Dehradun: District Social Media Co-convener of the BJP OBC Morcha Vinod was killed in Sahaspur area of Dehradun district following a dispute reportedly linked to a water-related issue, police said.
Following the incident, a case has been registered against 12 individuals in connection with the murder. Authorities also carried out bulldozer action against the alleged accused, marking and demolishing identified structures after due administrative proceedings.
The incident triggered tension in the area, with reports of stone-pelting and vandalism at the homes of the accused by local groups. Some belongings were also set on fire during the unrest. Police and Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) personnel were deployed in the village to bring the situation under control and maintain law and order.
According to police, the altercation stemmed from a dispute over water, which escalated into violence. Vinod was allegedly attacked with a hammer and succumbed to his injuries. Two of his family members were also injured in the incident and are undergoing treatment.
In response, security has been tightened in the area, and administrative teams are monitoring the situation closely to prevent further escalation.
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami took a strong stance on the incident, stating that strict action would be taken against those involved in disturbing peace and law and order in the state.
