CBI arrests DDA vigilance officer in bribery case (Img: Internet)
New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested an Assistant Vigilance Officer and a Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS) employee of the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) in connection with an alleged bribery case involving a vigilance matter.
According to officials, the case was registered on May 18 following a complaint filed by a former Deputy Director of the DDA. The complainant alleged that the Assistant Vigilance Officer had demanded a bribe of Rs 5 lakh in exchange for sending a favourable response to the complainant’s parent department regarding an ongoing vigilance issue.

The CBI said that after discussions, the accused officer allegedly agreed to accept Rs 3 lakh as illegal gratification. Acting on the complaint, the agency laid a trap operation on May 18.
During the operation, investigators allegedly caught the accused official while accepting Rs 50,000 through the MTS employee as part payment of the agreed bribe amount.
Both accused individuals were taken into custody immediately after the trap operation, officials said.

The federal agency stated that the money was allegedly accepted on behalf of the vigilance officer by the MTS employee during the operation. The arrests were made as part of the CBI’s ongoing efforts to crack down on corruption within public institutions.
The agency has not disclosed further details regarding the vigilance matter linked to the complainant.
CBI officials said further investigation in the case is currently underway. The agency also reiterated its commitment to taking strict action against corruption and urged citizens to report incidents involving bribery or misuse of official positions by public servants.
