Faridabad: On Friday night in Sector 21C, Faridabad, a former regional business head for the Asia-Pacific region at Tech Mahindra was shot and killed by his neighbor following a dispute over parking.
The deceased, Paramjit Dhankhar, resided in Singapore and was currently serving as a Senior Vice President at the Vietnam based firm FPT Software Company Limited.
According to the police, the accused, Mohan Sharma, fired approximately 15 rounds at Dhankhar using his licensed pistol. Nine of these bullets struck Dhankhar, resulting in his death on the spot. The police stated that an FIR has been registered at the Surajkund police station based on a complaint filed by the victim's son, Shaurya Dhankhar, under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Arms Act.
The accused has been on the run ever since the incident occurred.
The police noted that a dispute had been simmering for several days between the two families, who lived in the same four story building. The conflict centered on parking arrangements and the fact that a dog belonging to one of the families was fouling the parking area.
According to investigators, Dhankhar lived on the ground floor while the accused resided on the second floor.
The police reported that Sharma’s son would let his dog foul the parking area , a practice the Dhankhar family had objected to on several occasions. This issue had led to multiple arguments recently, including a heated exchange just 4-5 days before the incident.
On Friday night, another argument broke out between Dhankhar and Sharma regarding vehicle parking. Following this, Sharma called Dhankhar out of his home and fired multiple shots at him using his licensed pistol.
The police mentioned that Dhankhar frequently traveled to Singapore for work. He had returned to Faridabad on November 5 to attend his nephew’s wedding. The wedding is scheduled for November 24.
Following reports of the shooting, district police teams, the Crime Branch, and forensic experts arrived at the scene. Investigators recovered several spent cartridges from the site. Dhankhar’s body was taken to Badshah Khan Civil Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
Yashpal Yadav, Public Relations Officer (PRO) for the Faridabad Police, stated that Sharma fled the scene immediately after the incident.
"Several teams have been formed to ensure his arrest as soon as possible," he said.
