Panchkula: Seven members of the same family were found dead in a car here in Panchkula, police said on Tuesday.

Police sources further said late Monday night that they were informed that seven people, including a couple along with three children and two elders, were found in a car parked in here in Sector 27.

On getting the information a police team reached the spot.

All the seven were rushed to a nearby hospital where they were declared dead.

Police said that Praveen Mittal (42) along with wife, three children and parents had come to Panchkula from Dehradun, Uttarakhand, to attend a five-day 'Hanumant Katha'.

DCPs At The Spot

Panchkula DCP Himadri Kaushik and DCP (Law and Order) Amit Dahiya arrived at the scene and ordered an investigation.

Panchkula Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Himadri Kaushik, said, “We received information that six people have been brought to Ojas Hospital. When we reached here, we found out that they are all dead. Another person was brought to the Civil Hospital, Sector 6; he has also been declared dead. Prima facie, it looks like a matter of suicide. All the investigating officers are at the spot...All of the deceased are family members…”

Suicide Suspected

"The seven appear to have died by suicide after consuming some poisonous substance," said a police officer.

Police said the initial investigation suggests that the reason behind the incident was financial crises and debt. However, the matter was under investigation.

A police team is likely to go to Dehradun and speak to the relatives of the family, said a police officer.

Earlier Incident:

In Bahadurgarh in March, a massive explosion in a house, killed four including three children and their mother.

The woman’s husband, Harpal Singh, was critically injured. Singh has been admitted to the PGIMS, Rohtak.

A technical team is conducting a thorough probe to the cause of the blast. However sources revealed that some fault in air conditioner might have resulted in the blast.

DCP Statement

Bahadurgarh DCP Mayank Mishra said that Harpal, a transporter from Delhi, had been living here on rent with his family for about a year. His wife and three children died in the blast.

“A team of forensic experts is at the spot to determine the cause of the blast and the exact location where it occurred,” added the DCP.
