Denver: A fatal incident occurred at Denver International Airport when an unidentified person breached airport security fencing and entered an active runway. Authorities confirmed that the individual was struck by a Frontier Airlines aircraft during takeoff, resulting in death at the scene.

Aircraft Involved in the Incident

The aircraft, identified as Frontier Airlines Flight 4345, was departing from Denver to Los Angeles when the collision occurred at approximately 11:19 PM. The impact reportedly caused a fire in one of the engines, forcing immediate emergency procedures by the flight crew.

Emergency Response and Evacuation

Following the incident, passengers were evacuated from the aircraft and transported back to the terminal by bus. Airport authorities later arranged a replacement flight for most travellers. Officials confirmed that at least 17 people were injured, with five requiring hospital treatment.

Preliminary Findings and Security Review

Airport officials stated that the perimeter fence was intact, and early findings suggest the individual was not an airport employee. The identity of the trespasser has not yet been confirmed. One of the airport’s runways, 17L, was temporarily closed as investigators examined the scene.

Government and Agency Investigation

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), along with the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), has launched a joint investigation into the breach. US transportation officials condemned the incident, stressing that unauthorized access to airport runways poses severe risks to aviation safety.

Ongoing Probe and Safety Concerns

Authorities are now reviewing how the individual managed to access a secure runway area despite existing fencing and surveillance systems. The case has raised fresh concerns over airport perimeter security and emergency response readiness at major US airports. Further updates are expected as investigations continue into the circumstances surrounding the fatal breach.
