Two terrorists killed in Poonch
Srinagar: The army killed two terrorists trying to infiltrate near the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch on Wednesday.
According to officials, the soldiers deployed on the border saw suspicious activity in the Maldivelan area of Degwar sector late on Tuesday night. After which the encounter started.
This operation was named Shivshakti. Three weapons and ammunition were also recovered from the terrorists.
This is the second encounter of the army in the last three days. On July 28, security forces killed three Pakistani terrorists in Harwan area near Dachigam National Park in Srinagar. These included Suleman, the main accused of the Pahalgam attack.
The remaining two terrorists have been identified as Jibran and Hamza Afghani. Jibran was involved in the attack on the 2024 Sonamarg tunnel project. American M4 carbine, AK-47, 17 rifles and grenades were recovered from the terrorists. It was named Operation Mahadev.
A week ago, a clue was found about the hiding of terrorists. A week ago, the security forces had received intelligence about the hiding of terrorists in the Dachigam forest of Srinagar. These terrorists had re-activated a Chinese ultra communication set for the first time after the attack. The signals of the same satellite phone were traced.
After this, the security forces conducted a large-scale search operation to locate the terrorists. At around 11:30 am on July 28, a contingent of soldiers of 24 National Rifles and 4 Para Unit found the location of the terrorists using advanced gadgets and killed all three terrorists present there.
