Pune: The investigation into the alleged murder of Pune businessman Ketan Agarwal has entered a crucial phase, with Pune Police seeking the court's permission to conduct polygraph (lie-detector) tests on the two accused, Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary. Investigators hope the tests will help determine who allegedly pushed Agarwal off a cliff at Lohagad Fort on June 18.

Police Seek Polygraph to Resolve Key Question

According to senior police officials, the investigation has so far failed to establish conclusively whether Siya Goyal or her alleged partner, Chetan Chaudhary, pushed Ketan Agarwal into the gorge.

Police told the court that despite recording the statements of both accused, no eyewitness or direct evidence has emerged to identify the person responsible.

Investigators argued that a polygraph examination could help verify the statements made by the accused and provide fresh leads in the murder probe.

Crime Rehearsal Spot Identified

Earlier on Thursday, police took Siya Goyal to an open space in Pune's Lullanagar area, where she allegedly identified the location where she and Chetan had rehearsed pushing Ketan off a cliff before the incident.

Officials claimed the accused had practised the act before carrying out the alleged murder at Lohagad Fort.

Clothes Recovered During Search

Police also recovered the clothes allegedly worn by Siya Goyal on the day of the incident during a search at her residence. The garments have been seized as part of the investigation and are expected to undergo forensic examination.

Ketan Agarwal, a 26-year-old businessman, died after falling from Lohagad Fort on June 18. Initially treated as an accidental death, the case later turned into a murder investigation. Police allege that Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary conspired to kill him because Agarwal had become an obstacle to their relationship. Both were arrested on June 23, and the investigation is ongoing.
