Delhi: A Diwali celebration in Delhi took a tragic turn after a man was fatally stabbed following an altercation over bursting firecrackers on the intervening night of October 21-22. The victim has been identified as Sitamber Prasad alias Dileep, son of Sikander Singh. He was found lying on the street with a stab injury to the right side of his chest, according to reports.
According to police, Dileep was allegedly attacked by three to four individuals outside his residence in Shahbad Dairy. “One of them stabbed him while the others reportedly assaulted his brothers, Deepak and Sandeep,” a police official said.

FIR and Legal Action
Investigations revealed that the incident was preceded by a dispute between Dileep’s younger brother, Sandeep Prasad, and the four accused over abusive language exchanged regarding the bursting of firecrackers. This confrontation took place about an hour before Dileep was stabbed.
Following the incident, Dileep’s elder brother Deepak Prasad filed a complaint, leading to registration of a case under FIR No. 739/25. The case has been registered under sections 103(1)/3(5) BNS (punishment for murder). Police immediately launched a detailed investigation into the stabbing.
Police Investigation
The police said they recorded witness statements and reviewed CCTV footage from nearby areas to reconstruct the events leading up to the attack. Technical surveillance measures were also initiated to trace the absconding accused.
Through a combination of manual investigation and technical surveillance, authorities were able to apprehend three of the four suspects involved in the attack:
Dheeraj, 24, resident of Shahbad Dairy
Akash alias Baba, 24, resident of Shahbad Dairy
Tarun, 22, resident of Inderprasth Colony, Ashok Vihar
Efforts are ongoing to locate the fourth accused, Ajay alias Ali, with police conducting raids at multiple locations.

Police confirmed that further investigations are underway to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident and the roles of each accused. Law enforcement officials are also verifying whether any other individuals may have been involved or aware of the confrontation prior to the fatal attack.
The Delhi Police have urged anyone with information related to the incident or the fourth accused to come forward to aid in the investigation.
