New Delhi: Fresh details have emerged in the death case of 33-year-old Twisha Sharma, whose body was found at her matrimonial home in Bhopal earlier this month. Messages allegedly sent by Twisha to her family members days before her death have now intensified demands for a deeper investigation.

Twisha, a marketing and communication professional from Noida, had married Bhopal-based advocate Samarth Singh in 2025 after the two reportedly met through a dating application a year earlier. She was found dead on May 12 at her in-laws’ residence in the Katara Hills area of Bhopal.

Family Alleges Harassment And Murder

According to family members, Twisha had been in regular contact with them and had repeatedly spoken about emotional distress and alleged harassment at her marital home.

Her father, Navnidhi Sharma, claimed that Twisha wanted to leave Bhopal and return to Noida. Family members alleged that she had even booked a ticket but later cancelled it under pressure from her in-laws.

In one of the messages shared with relatives, Twisha allegedly said, “My life has become hell” and pleaded with them to take her away from the house. The family has accused her husband Samarth Singh and mother-in-law Giribala Singh, a retired judge, of murder and harassment.

No suicide note was reportedly recovered from the scene.

SIT Formed To Probe Case

Following the allegations, police registered a case under provisions related to dowry death and harassment under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Authorities have also constituted a six-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) led by Assistant Commissioner of Police Rajneesh Kashyap to investigate the matter.

Police officials said efforts are underway to trace Samarth Singh, while statements of family members and other individuals connected to the case are being recorded.

Family Demands Fresh Post-Mortem

Twisha’s family staged a protest outside Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav’s residence in Bhopal demanding a fresh post-mortem examination at AIIMS Delhi.

Family members said officials from the Chief Minister’s Office later met them and assured them that the investigation would be conducted fairly and thoroughly.

The case has triggered widespread discussion on allegations of dowry harassment and the need for stronger safeguards for women facing abuse within marriage.
