Police said the 28-year-old was nearly seven weeks pregnant when she succumbed to her injuries during treatment at PGIMER on August 26.
According to the police investigation, Manjeet Kaur was allegedly forced into a car from Chandigarh on July 3 and taken to Morinda. The accused allegedly assaulted her, tied her to a mulberry tree and set her on fire.
A friend who reached the spot reportedly used a blanket to put out the flames and rushed her to a hospital in Morinda. She was later shifted to a private hospital in Mohali before being admitted to PGIMER on July 9.
After battling for life for several weeks, Kaur briefly regained consciousness on August 5 but later died due to her severe burn injuries.
