Jaipur: After Nikki murder case of Greater Noida, in another horrifying case of dowry harassment, a school lecturer in Jodhpur set herself and her three-year-old daughter on fire on Friday due to dowry harassment by her in-laws. The child, Yashasvi, died at the scene, while the mother, Sanju Bishnoi, passed away during treatment, reports Dynamite News correspondent.
The incident happened in Sarnada village of Dangiyawas police station area of Jodhpur.
Police has sent the bodies of mother and daughter for postmortem. The deceased perhaps left a suicide note which the police has seized. In the note Sanju has accused her husband and in-laws of harassing her for dowry.

The police said that Sanju after came home from school on Friday afternoon, sat on a chair with her daughter in the house and poured petrol on herself. After this, she set herself on fire. Soon after the flames engulfed both of them.

The parents of a woman from Fitkasni area have lodged an FIR with the police against her husband Dilip Bishnoi, mother-in-law and father-in-law, accusing them of mental and physical harassment for dowry and abetting her to suicide. The FSL team has collected evidence from the spot. The responsibility of investigation has been handed over to the ACP of Mandore.
The investigating officer informed that a suicide note has been recovered from the spot, in which the woman has made serious allegations against her in-laws. The ACP said that the matter is being investigated closely and strict action will be taken against whoever is found guilty.
There is an atmosphere of mourning and anger in the area due to this heart-wrenching incident. Local people say that if an educated woman, who was working as a lecturer, was also harassed for dowry, then this is a very worrying situation. Now everyone's eyes are on how long the police will take concrete steps in this matter.
