Colombo: Two players from the Sri Lanka Under-19 cricket team have been arrested in Colombo over allegations that they secretly filmed women in a hotel bathroom.

According to police, the incident took place in the Narahenpita area while the players were staying at a hotel. Female guests later complained that someone was attempting to record them using a mobile phone while they were bathing.

During the investigation, police became suspicious of the two young cricketers. Their mobile phones were checked, and authorities reportedly found videos on the devices. Officials are now investigating whether any of the footage was shared or uploaded online.

Both players were produced before a court and granted bail of 500,000 Sri Lankan rupees each. They have been instructed to appear in court again on May 25. Their phones have been seized for further examination, including checks to see if they were involved in similar incidents earlier.

Sri Lanka Cricket has condemned the incident. However, no immediate disciplinary action or suspension has been announced yet, as the board is currently dealing with internal changes and financial challenges.

The investigation is still ongoing, and the future of both players in cricket appears uncertain.
