Bhopal: In a sensational twist in Twisha Sharma Death Case, a local court in Bhopal has sent Samarth Singh and Giribala Singh to the custody of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) till June 2. The latest order is a big step forward in the ongoing investigation into the Twisha Sharma Case.
A day after this development, CBI arrested Giribala Singh after questioning him for nearly six hours. During the hearing on Friday, the agency had sought a five-day remand of Giribala and also sought extension of the custody of Samarth Singh and Giribala Singh.

According to lawyers representing Twisha Sharma’s family, the court approved the CBI’s request and ordered both accused to remain in the agency’s custody until the afternoon of June 2.

Family counsel Anurag Srivastava stated that the investigation was now expected to move forward in the right direction. He also said the CBI could seek a further extension of remand if required during the course of the probe.
Notably, Giribala Singh’s legal team did not oppose the agency’s request for remand before the court.
Twisha Sharma’s family has accused her husband and mother-in-law of repeatedly harassing the 33-year-old woman over dowry demands. The family alleges that the harassment ultimately led to her death.
They have also accused Giribala Singh, who serves as the chairperson of a consumer court in Bhopal, of tampering with the crime scene after the incident.
During proceedings in the Madhya Pradesh High Court, Twisha’s family argued that she had been trapped in a deeply troubled matrimonial environment.
Both Giribala Singh and Samarth Singh have denied all allegations levelled against them.
Giribala claimed that Twisha suffered from substance abuse issues and questioned her mental health condition. She also accused Twisha’s relatives of attempting to influence the investigation and damage the family’s public image.
Earlier this month, a sessions court had granted anticipatory bail to Giribala Singh. However, the Madhya Pradesh High Court later cancelled the relief, citing the seriousness of the allegations and factual aspects of the case.
Following growing public attention, the Madhya Pradesh government recommended a CBI inquiry. The Supreme Court of India later took suo motu cognisance of the matter, after which a CBI investigation was formally ordered. A second post-mortem examination of Twisha Sharma was also conducted under court directions.
