The government argued that medical findings indicated the possibility of a physical struggle before the incident. The court questioned whether the injuries were ante-mortem, to which the state replied in the affirmative.
The state further alleged that Twisha Sharma was subjected to cruelty by both her husband Samarth Singh and mother-in-law Giribala Singh. According to the government counsel, Twisha was allegedly taunted over dowry and faced repeated comments regarding the amount spent by her family during the marriage.
Investigators also referred to chats and digital evidence examined during the probe. The state claimed that disputes related to Twisha’s pregnancy had increased tensions within the family.

When the court sought clarification on whether the allegations were directed at the husband or mother-in-law, the prosecution stated that “both of them subjected her to cruelty.”
The Madhya Pradesh government also accused Giribala Singh of not cooperating with investigators despite notices being issued on May 13 and May 14. The state claimed police teams did not find her at home during visits connected to the investigation.
The case has drawn significant public attention in recent weeks, with demands for a thorough investigation from several quarters. Authorities are continuing to examine digital records, statements and forensic evidence linked to the matter.
