New Delhi: Delhi Police's counter-intelligence team has apprehended two shooters during a successful encounter on Pushta Road in Kalindi Kunj. The arrested criminals have been identified as Rahul (Panipat, Haryana) and Sahil (Bhiwani, Haryana). Both criminals were associated with the gang of Rohit Godara, Goldy Brar, and Virendra Charan and were plotting to assassinate renowned stand-up comedian Munawar Farooqui.

In retaliation, both criminals were shot in the leg and were arrested and hospitalized.

According to police, Rahul was an accused in a triple murder case in Yamunanagar, Haryana, in December 2024 and was absconding due to concealment of his identity. Sahil was also a member of the same gang. Both were working under the orders of Rohit Godara, Goldy Brar, and Virendra Charan.
The murder of Munawar Farooqui, who won the reality show Bigg Boss in 2024 and has 14.2 million followers on Instagram, was being planned. According to investigators, Rohit Godara was also planning to murder social media influencers in Mumbai and Bengaluru. Rahul and Sahil were the main shooters in this plot and had also conducted a recce of Farooqui's house.
Delhi Police have seized the bike and weapons used by the criminals from the scene of the crime. Legal proceedings are underway against both accused, and the police are investigating their backgrounds and other gang members.
